Powerhouse

Located in DUMBO, this bookstore and publisher has relocated down the street from its original location. The Powerhouse Arena, as the first store was known, was a large open space with stadium style seating built in. This iteration was the store was badly damaged during hurricane Sandy. The new store is a few blocks away underneath the Manhattan Bridge and across from the large archway that now serves as the store’s namesake and as a community center.

The store is in the process of adding a bar and coffee shop. Presumably a liquor license is imminent. Events take place in the upstairs area around the bar, although before this space was finished, the store held events on the main level. If accessibility is an issue, its likely the store can accommodate readers if they have forewarning.

Events are listed on the store website.
